Press Release: Appointment of Apostolic Visitor with a special role for the parish of Medjugorje
On May 31, 2018, the Holy Father appointed Archbishop Henryk Hoser, S.A.C., retired bishop of Warsaw-Prague (Poland), Apostolic Visitor with a special role for the parish of Medjugorje, for an indefinite time, and ad nutum Sanctae Sedis.
It is exclusively for the pastoral ministry, continuing on the mission of the Special Envoy of the Holy See for the parish of Medjugorje, entrusted to Mgr. Hoser on February 11, 2017, and he completed it in the previous months.
The purpose of the mission of the Apostolic Visitor is to ensure a firm and permanent escort of the parish community in Medjugorje and those who come to pilgrimage there, whose needs require special attention.
I am glad, that on the occasion of this statement, on behalf of Herzegovinian Franciscan Province, in this part of the Church, entrusted with the care for Medjugorje in its members, I may express my sincere words of gratitude to the Supreme Pontiff, Pope Francis, who is in charge of the utmost, immediate and general pastoral authority in the Church.
We wish to greet and welcome with the same respect and loyalty on our behalf, the current Special Envoy of the Holy See for Medjugorje, His Excellency, Archbishop Henryk Hoser, now appointed Apostolic Visitor with a special role and authorities.
It is up to the appointed Archbishop, to use all the authority and governance of his mission, so as to clarify all matters regarding the role and the mission entrusted to him by the Holy Father Francis.
